About Brevity
Brevity is a boutique web development shop that builds custom websites for creative agencies, digital marketers, large corporations, and non-profits. We also sell and manage a proprietary, framework-based website product and provide performance-focused hosting and support. Our small, collaborative team (6–8 people) is in a growth phase – we aim to double in size over the next 24 months. This is a people-first, growth-minded environment where empathy, collaboration, and technical excellence drive everything we do.

- Architect Solutions: Design scalable website architectures (primarily WordPress). Make strategic decisions on hosting, caching, security, and performance to ensure robust, high-availability sites. Select the right plugins, themes, and frameworks as needed.
- Advanced Development: Build custom websites (primarily WordPress) and bespoke plugins using modern best practices. Utilize Node.js tooling (NPM, Webpack) to optimize build and deployment processes. Integrate third-party systems (APIs, CRMs, marketing tools, analytics) seamlessly into WordPress sites.
- Environment Management: Oversee development environments and deployments. Configure and troubleshoot local, staging, and production servers to ensure smooth and reliable releases.
- Quality & Documentation: Write clean, well-documented code. Maintain coding standards and version control (Git). Thoroughly document your work and conduct QA on your own output and contributions from the team to maintain high code quality and consistency.
- Team Leadership: Mentor junior developers through pair programming and code reviews. Lead sprint planning and technical discussions, promoting best practices and continuous improvement. Foster a collaborative team culture where knowledge is shared.
- Client Collaboration: Act as the technical expert in client meetings. Translate complex technical concepts into clear language for non-technical stakeholders. Work closely with the account and sales teams to accurately estimate projects and refine requirements. Diplomatically challenge counterproductive requests to keep projects on track and aligned with client goals.
- Deliver Results: Ensure projects are completed on time and within budget. Strive for high-performance, secure, and accessible websites. Continuously seek ways to improve site uptime, performance metrics, and documentation.

- DevOps & Hosting: Experience with server management and DevOps practices. Comfortable configuring and maintaining local, staging, and production environments on a performance-focused host. Knowledge of caching layers, CDNs, and security hardening for WordPress.
- Frameworks & System Development: Experience working within established development frameworks and comfortable both adapting to existing systems and creating new ones. Committed to web standards, accessibility, and security best practices.
