- Lead SEO Strategy Development: Own the strategic direction for client SEO initiatives, including but not limited to:
- Keyword research
- On-page optimization

- Implement Strategic Recommendations: Translate SEO strategy into timely, high-impact actions, ensuring recommendations are executed swiftly and effectively to capitalize on opportunities and drive measurable results.
- Test and Optimize SEO Strategy: Apply a test-and-learn approach to continuously refine SEO tactics, using experimentation and performance data to validate assumptions and drive strategic decisions.
- Deliver Data-Driven Insights: Analyze keyword trends, traffic fluctuations, and visibility shifts to shape smart, forward-looking strategies that directly tie SEO performance to business KPIs and conversions.
- Tailor Client Solutions: Develop and present custom SEO strategies based on each client’s unique business goals, industry, and competitive landscape—including multi-location and franchise businesses.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with internal teams—content, design, development, and strategy—to align efforts and ensure seamless execution of SEO priorities. Write clear briefs for both content and technical development teams.
- Act as a Trusted Consultant: Serve as a strategic advisor to clients, translating complex SEO concepts into clear recommendations and confidently guiding decision-making, including leading QBRs and strategy presentations.
- Mentor and Guide: Support and advise fellow SEO team members, helping shape service offerings and elevate team performance through coaching, documentation, and shared knowledge. Provide mentorship and support to junior strategists and specialists in collaboration with the Director of SEO.
- Manage Budgets and Resources: Ensure that SEO tasks are completed efficiently, on time, and within budget, while juggling multiple client accounts in a fast-paced agency setting.
- Champion Innovation and Best Practices: Stay current on algorithm changes, emerging tools, and evolving SERP behavior. Help test and implement automation, new tools, and smarter workflows to optimize team performance.
- Identify Growth Opportunities: Proactively uncover new areas for visibility, ranking improvements, and content performance—particularly for dynamic, database-driven, and e-commerce websites.
- Monitor the Competitive Landscape: Track and evaluate SEO performance for both TG and client properties alongside competitor data to inform strategic adjustments.
- Produce Executive-Ready Reporting: Build and interpret dashboards in GA4, Looker Studio, or similar tools to deliver clear, client-facing reports and performance recommendations.
- Represent the Agency Externally: Contribute to industry thought leadership by creating content such as blogs and webinars, showcasing expertise and promoting the agency’s SEO capabilities.
- Work Flexibly: Primarily work remotely, camera-ready from your dedicated workspace, meeting with clients and our internal team on a daily basis. Collaborate in person, as needed, at our St Louis HQ.
What Sets You Up for Success
- U.S.-based candidates only
- Ability to meet at TG headquarters in St. Louis, MO, as needed
- 5+ years of hands-on SEO experience with a demonstrated history of successful strategy execution and measurable results
- Deep understanding of technical SEO (crawlability, Core Web Vitals, schema, indexation)
- Strong on-page and off-page SEO execution (metadata, internal linking, E-E-A-T, link building)
- Proven ability to prioritize SEO initiatives for maximum business impact
- Proficiency in tools like SEMrush, Ahrefs, Screaming Frog, Google Search Console, GA4, and Looker Studio
- Confident leading SEO strategy conversations, QBRs, and reporting with clients
- Skilled at simplifying complex SEO concepts for non-technical stakeholders
- Experience managing SEO for multi-location or franchise businesses
- Strong understanding of local SEO and Google Business Profile optimization
- Experience tying SEO metrics to broader business KPIs and conversions
- Thrives in an agency environment managing multiple clients across industries
- Collaborative mindset—works well with dev, content, UX, and account teams
- Mentorship and team development experience
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Highly organized and self-directed, with the ability to manage multiple priorities under pressure
- Up to date on Google algorithm updates, SERP changes, and SEO trends
- Experience with content management systems like WordPress and Shopify
- Understanding of web development concepts and the ability to communicate effectively with developers
Nice to Have
- Schema deployment via Google Tag Manager
- Familiarity with accessibility standards and SEO (WCAG/ADA compliance)
- SEO reporting automation via Supermetrics, Google Sheets APIs, or Python
- Comfort representing the agency in external thought leadership (webinars, blogs, etc.)
- Exposure to or experience with Conversion Rate Optimization (CRO)
- Front-end or back-end development experience (HTML, CSS, JavaScript, or similar)
